North Platte Public Library, North Platte, Nebraska

This is a library in my home town and they have a great genealogy collection.  It is on the second floor, with access by elevator or stairs.  The library is located two blocks from the Lincoln County Courthouse, so you can easily do a lot of research in downtown North Platte.

The library has a large collection of genealogical and historical books, with emphasis on Nebraska and Lincoln County.  Some of the highlights of their collection include:

  1. I charge $25 per hour, plus copies. However, at this time, I am still not able to do extensive research due to knee replacement surgery. Contact me at if you have further questions.

  2. Am wondering if there is an index of burials in Lincoln County?

  3. Yes, there are some indexes which are rather old. There is an index which is up to date on the North Platte City web page (Google for it and then go to the cemetery department). This would be for the North Platte Cemetery.

  4. how would i find realitivesof clair eichstedt who lived in north platt ne around 1940s there were three children shirley, gerald, clair. the mother was clara laschansky. perhaps some realitive still lives there.

  5. I'm looking for church records regarding the baptism of George Emil Wilson b 1905 in North Platte. His godfather was William Frederick Cody also known as Buffalo Bill Cody. We have pictures of Mr. Cody with Nellie Ziebert Wilson (George's mother) and George but would like to know if someone would be willing to research Lutheran church records for us.

    1. I will go through the Lutheran Church records in the library and see what I can find. Please send me your e-mail .... Thanks.
